2. Should I take BRIDGE test?
Ans: BRIDGE test is mandatory for every international student. This exam includes all four sections as TOEFL and is free. On failing the test you will have to take Basic English courses. However, you can skip the test if you have a total score above 100 in TOEFL. If you are a Teaching Assistant (TA) you will have to take SPEAK test. It tests the speaking skills and costs $60. This test can also be skipped if you have score of 24 or above in speaking section of TOEFL.
3. What are the funding opportunities in UNR?
Ans: There are mainly two types of funding which pays for some part of tuition fee in addition to salary. You have to be either a Ph.D. student or Masters student (Thesis option) to apply for these assistantships. These include:
Teaching Assistantship (TA): Being a TA you will be assisting a professor in grading, conducting labs, recitations or lectures. Contact the respective departments for details on these.
Research Assistantship (RA): Being an RA you will be working under a professor in his research work. Contact the professor in your field of study for this funding option.
